Chamber PAC Announces City Council Endorsements

The Chamber's Political Action Committee interviewed all five candidates, hosted a debate and took input from downtown businesses.

The Davis Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee has endorsed city council candidates Lucas Frerichs, Stephen Souza and Dan Wolk for the upcoming election. They announced the decision in a release, which we've posted below. The following endorsements were made by the Chamber's Political Action Committee and are not endorsements made by Davis Patch: 

The ChamberPAC interviewed all five City of Davis 2012 City Council candidates and hosted a lively candidate debate in April. Based on PAC interviews, the debate, multiple committee meetings, and valued input from our Davis Downtown Business Association liaisons, the Davis Chamber of Commerce PAC is proud to announce our list (in alphabetical order) of candidate endorsements for the June 5, 2012 Davis City Council election:

  • Lucas Frerichs
  • Stephen Souza
  • Dan Wolk

Davis residents are strongly encouraged to support these three candidates because each of them has demonstrated a firm commitment to promote, support and advocate for the general economic vitality of the business community of Davis and the quality of life for the community.

Frerichs, Souza and Wolk have the vision and demonstrated commitment to build a more socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable community. They are all collaborative, solution oriented leaders.

The ChamberPAC has also endorsed Measure D, the Parks Renewal Tax, and encourages citizens to renew this parcel tax that protects our high quality of life.

ChamberPAC efforts are not intended to start and end with the June election.  Rather, these efforts shall be ongoing to ensure we do not lose sight of the critical importance a robust, local economy has in sustaining the well being of the community. 

Preliminary fundraising efforts have successfully raised donations from numerous businesses and individuals. In order to encourage transparency, the ChamberPAC will be releasing weekly financial disclosures of all money raised and spent to local media outlets.

The sole funding source for the Davis ChamberPAC is voluntary contributions by individuals and businesses. No funds from the operating budget of the Davis Chamber of Commerce are used to support Davis Chamber PAC activities. Davis ChamberPAC endorsements are NOT voted on by the Board of Directors of the Davis Chamber of Commerce. The Davis Chamber of Commerce and Davis ChamberPAC are not affiliated with the US Chamber of Commerce or the California Chamber of Commerce.
