It has been confirmed that he is alive and well. His parents are on their way to him now. He has been in an area without cell phone reception for probably most of the time he has been gone, and likely has no idea of the work and worry of those trying to find him. Our deepest gratitude goes to all of you for your prayers and all you have done to help at this time. Thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts.

This has not been confirmed by police, who initially helped spread the word about Thompson as he went missing.

However Daniel and the car have never returned," according to the Bring Daniel Thompson Home Facebook page. "Police say that we should continue searching Davis and Sacramento as these are the last places Daniel was known to have been. Having a car widens the search area, but we still want to continue searching close to home as well."

UPDATE: Daniel Thompson's last communication was via text on April 13, according to Davis Police Lt. Paul Doroshov. This Facebook page has also been created by a friend to aid in the search.

The administrators of the page say that Thompson bought an Amtrak ticket on the day he went missing, but it's unclear if he used it. They also believe Thompson feared "a false warning from a friend about a warrant being out for his arrest." They say police have confirmed that there is no such warrant.
