Noose Incident Sparks Video Project

Community media center Davis Media Access is launching a video project, entitled “Speak Out for Tolerance” in response to a  on the Davis High School football field in June.

As a reaction to hate acts in the community, the City of Davis' Human Relations Commission is working with Davis Media Access to create a video collage on tolerance.

An initial filming, open to the community, occurred last Thursday night at the media center at 1623 5th St.  

Filmmakers encourage those interested to think about how they might answer the question “what does tolerance mean to you” in a sentence or two. Participants can record their brief thoughts before the camera.  

Davis Media Access will piece together individual recordings for a video collage and broadcast it on DCTV and the Davis Media Access radio station KDRT 95.7FM. It will also be available for download on their website. 

Anyone interested is encouraged to participate individually or with a small group. 

According to Human Relations Comission Chair Judith Plank, there will be the project's coordinators will host another filming at the Davis Farmers Market on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. in Central Park. Otherwise, they may accept more statements in August.
