VIDEO: Man Steals 'Starry Night' Drawing From Davis Home, Runs Away
It was 3 a.m. on August 18 and not a creature was stirring, except for a guy in a white tank top.
The surveillance footage above shows a guy in a white tank top sneaking up to the front of a Davis residence near Alice and J Streets.
The surveillance camera reads 2:57 a.m. on August 18, just a few hours before a yard sale was scheduled to begin at the residence. Among the items in front of the home was a reproduction of Van Gogh's “Starry Night.”
It’s worth noting, however, that the reproduction we're talking about was done on a white-board, with dry erase markers. So unless the burglar was extremely careful on his way home (which is doubtful), he didn’t steal a piece of valuable art so much as he stole a standard dry-erase board.

A resident of the home, Jenny Bernstein, sent Davis Patch a copy of the video, which she found more entertaining than angering:
“I'm not too bummed about losing the art, but the video is kind of hilarious … He stole Starry Night hand drawn with dry erase pens on a white board by my friend Liz. Very random. I like when he gets to the end of my driveway and just books it.”

That's my favorite part, too.
