Yolo Sheriff: Somebody Shot & Killed a Woman's Cat in Woodland

Yolo County Animal Services responded to a call on Wednesday regarding a cat that had been shot to death. This comes in the wake of a West Sacramento incident last week in which a living cat was set on fire. A $5,000 reward has been offered in that incident.

Here’s a release from the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office:

Dr. Tucker, D.V.M advised Animal Services the owner had found her deceased cat "Soot Soot" lying in the alley behind the 600 block of College Street in Woodland.  The owner last saw the cat alive about 8:00 a.m. as she left to take her children to school.  The cat owner returned approximately 30 minutes later and found her cat lying motionless and noticed it had suffered a penetrating injury; she took her cat directly to Animal Care Clinic.

Soot-Soot, a 7 year old Calico short hair was deceased when it arrived at the veterinarian.  Dr. Tucker determined the cat had been shot.

This is not the first cat to suffer this act of felony animal cruelty in this area of Woodland.  This owner had another cat die from a gunshot in June 2010, but the suspect was never found.
