VIDEO: 5 Minutes of Fireworks in 43 Seconds

Celebrate Davis! ended with a five-minute fireworks show yesterday. Here's a sped-up version.

I shot this video on my GoPro camera while breaking down the Davis Patch booth at Celebrate Davis! yesteray. The event was great and the fireworks show was a nice way to end it.  The music in the video is something I recorded a couple of years ago using a guitar and some GarageBand loops. It's a bit scattered and crazy.   For more local videos:

Time Sure Flies: Celebrate Davis! was my First Day with Davis Patch Last Year

My first day of work was at Celebrate Davis! last year. It was a doozy.

I spent my first day of work as Davis Patch's editor chatting with people at the Chamber of Commerce's Celebrate Davis! event. My colleagues had gotten us a booth with hopes of reaching out to the community prior to the our launch. A full year has since passed, with Celebrate Davis! 2012 happening today from 4-9 p.m.  When I worked last year's event, I had just moved from San Francisco back to my parents’ house in Winters. My then-fiance was still in the city, finishing out her job. I came early to find us an apartment in Davis. I worked the booth with my boss and our salesperson. Thousands of people paraded by throughout the day, asking what “Davis Patch” was. The site wouldn’t launch for another month and a half and I hadn’t done a lick …

Awesome! I'm excited, sounds great! What has been the controversy in the past? Is that something specific to Davis?, or more of the general dislike that has been so pervasive throughout California? I think they're great personally.   more ›

Dan Wolk Makes Davis's 'First Ever' Council Campaign Music Video

Dan Wolk's campaign video was filmed and edited by the same guy who edited the "Davis State of Mind" video.

Dan Wolk added some humor to the city council campaign this week when he released what his website says is the "first ever Davis city council campaign music video!"  The video is a rendition of "The Davis Song," which was written by Heidi Bekebrede, with whom Wolk duets the song.  It was filmed and edited by Daniel Watts -- the man who edited the Davis State of Mind video that went viral last year. A clip of the song plays during the credits at the end.  What do you think of the video? Share below!
