DAS also provides a comprehensive range of English As A Second Language classes--ranging from basic literacy to advanced. 

    The rich range of Community Interest courses appeal to computer illiterates, hobbyists and fitness enthusiasts among other residents of Davis and Yolo County with a diversity of interests. From "How To Use Your Digital Camera" to "Growing A Kitchen Garden," "Tai Chi," "Yoga," "Arabic Conversation," "Painting With Acrylics" and many more eclectic classes, DAS has many classes from which to choose. Classes are held in Davis Joint Unified School District facilities across the city.

     

  • Davis Bridge Educational Foundation

    At this "homework club," English-speaking UC Davis students fluent in Spanish tutor "low-income,More academically-at-risk"  Latino K-12 students from schools around Davis.  Davis Bridge also provides computer access, school supplies, and after-school snacks. In addition, in order to increase the Latino students' awareness of American culture, Davis Bridge organizes visits to local cultural institutions.

    The idea is to offer a "bridge to the future." The goal for many of the Latino students participating is to gain admission to the college or university of their choice. This is also a great opportunity of the UC Davis students, many of whom are contemplating a career in education.    

    All Davis Bridge services are free of charge.

    This center focuses entirely on mathematics and reading comprehension. The instructors at Kumon create an in-class curriculum as well as an at-home study plan, creating a fairly comprehensive program for the students. Kumon carries out a free placement exam for its students in order to get them started at the correct level. The center is quaint, well-organized and quiet, a very positive environment for learning.
