Yolo County Supervisor Mike McGowan Endorses Dan Wolk for State Assembly

Davis, CA — Yolo County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Mike McGowan announced today that he has endorsed Davis Mayor Pro Tem Dan Wolk for State Assembly. This is the third major endorsement received by Wolk in less than a week – he has been endorsed by more than 70 local organizations, elected officials and community leaders in the 4th Assembly District.

"Dan's experience as deputy counsel for Solano County will be especially valuable in the Legislature.  He knows the issues we are struggling with locally, from prison realignment, to mental health and social services, economic development, agriculture, and of course the future of Delta communities I represent," said McGowan. "Dan Wolk also brings an important fresh perspective as a young father who can appreciate the long term future of our state. We need that."

McGowan is the immediate Past President of the California State Association of Counties and has served on the Board of Supervisors since 1993. As an advocate for the preservation of agricultural lands, McGowan led the promotion and enhancement of open space, and the provision of a myriad of services important to the well being of Yolo’s diverse population.

Wolk has already announced more than 70 key endorsements from community, education, public safety, economic and other leaders and organizations from around the district. They include Davis Police Officers Association, former State Superintendent of Public Instruction Delaine Eastin, Former Assemblymember and Yolo County Supervisor Helen Thomson, Solano County Sheriff Tom Ferrara, Yolo County Sheriff Ed Prieto, Solano County Supervisor Linda Seifert, Yolo County Supervisor Jim Provenza, Yolo County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jorge Ayala and Napa Vice Mayor Peter Mott. He lives in Davis with his wife, Jamima, a former professional triathlete and small business owner, and their two young daughters, Avery and Layla. Assembly District 4 consists of Napa and Lake Counties, most of Yolo County, as well as portions of Sonoma, Solano and Colusa Counties.
