Blogger Roundup: Cookies, Babies & 5 Summer Activities

We debuted some exciting new blogs in our Local Voices section this week, which I’d like to share with you here.

Four years ago I moved to Davis from San Jose, a big city in the bay area. I was a freshman in college, and the change wasn't easy for me. I missed my friends and my family, and Davis was so incredibly different from where I grew up that my initial reaction was to hate it. Oh how things change. Four years later -- as a recent college grad -- the idea of leaving Davis can almost bring me to tears.

When I gave in to motherhood and stopped trying to control, everything usually went much more smoothly. What I'm still learning is that as my children grow, mature and become independent, I need to remember them as they are in my "mind's eye," and not try to mold them into what I think they should be.

If you are needing to bring a dozen cookies or muffins to your kids' school or to church or a sporting event, you will find a recipe here that is sure to please! I know makes awesome baked goods, but nothing says "I love you" or "I care" more than something home made.  You can still go to Nugget to buy your ingredients and buy yourself a cup of coffee while you're there.  :-)
