Shaving Heads for Cancer Research: Dixon Scottish Cultural Association Raises $6,300 at de Vere's

2 women and 6 men from the Dixon Scottish Cultural Association shaved in solidarity.

The following was sent to Patch by Jeffrey Roy, of the Dixon Scottish Cultural Association:

The Dixon Scottish Cultural Association raised over $6,300 (and more coming in) and came in 1st in fundraising for the second year in a row for the De Vere's-sponsored St. Baldrick's Children's Cancer research fundraiser in Davis. 2 women and 6 men shaved in Solidarity. We marched in kilts with  2 bagpiper s playing  from the famers market with Dad and Daughter joining us this year..(the Savages)

It's part of our growing Association to take leadership roles in our community sharing Scottish culture and leading by example, and we found St. Baldrick's Children's Fundraiser to fit that exactly.

Great job. Your hair doesn't define who you are. I lost my hair last summer from chemo and makes your mornings much easier.

Hi Katie. If somebody is interested in the kittens, who do they contact? I'll share this if you addRead More that information, either in the article or in these comments. Thanks!

At first I thought, "What now? First the IRS is investigating the Tea Party and now the OddRead More Fellows and Soroptimist?" But then, after reading the article I realize that these are pretty serious allegations if proven to be true. I'm curious what specific "foster youth" organizations have benefitted from all of this fundraising. "Foster youth" is a pretty generic phrase and could refer to any number of organizations. With all of the non-profits I have worked with, the specific charity benefitting from their work was very clearly identified (and their 501c status was never in question).
