Davis residents will be singing John Lennon's "Imagine" at Candy Cane Court Saturday night at 5 p.m. Here's a message from the City of Davis Facebook page:
If you have been reeling from the news from Newtown, Connecticut and you are looking for a meaningful way to share some light and love with the citizens of that town, please bring a candle (electric if you have it since it might be raining!) and some lyrics and join us THIS Saturday for a brief community gathering to sing the song “Imagine.” Our song will be filmed and the video will be sent from our city to the city of Newtown, Connecticut. For those who are bringing small children…please know that those who are organizing have small children too and are sensitive to the fact that most little ones don’t know the details of the horrific events at Sandy Hook Elementary. As such, while there will be mention of gratitude for our community and there may be discussion of sending light and love to others who are not as fortunate, there will not be mention of anything about Newtown.
