June at the Arboretum: Folk Music, Wild Family Day, Shakespeare & More

There's plenty going on next month at the UC Davis Arboretum. Here are some nice opportunities to get outdoors: 

Saturday, June 1
Storytime Through the Seasons: Down Under the Eucalyptus - 1:00–3:00 pm, Meet at south end of parking lot 10 near A and 1st Street, UC Davis. Explore the natural and cultural world of Australia in this program for children and families. Take part in readings and hands-on activities about traditional Australian culture in the Arboretum's spectacular Australian Collection. Sponsored by theArboretum Ambassadors and Target. Wild Family Day 1:00-3:00 pm, UC Davis Arboretum Gazebo, UC Davis - Join Wild Campus in partnership with the Arboretum for our second annual Wild Family Day! Wild Campus is a UC Davis student organization dedicated to the conservation of wildlife in Davis. Enjoy fun games and activities for all ages, as well as educational displays, and even live animals! Friday, June 7 & 21
Folk Music Jam Session - 12:00–1:00 pm, Wyatt Deck, Arboretum Drive, UC DavisFolk musicians are invited to play together informally during an acoustic jam session every other Friday in June from noon to 1:00 pm at the Wyatt Deck, located onArboretum Drive (formerly Old Davis Road) next to the redwood grove in the UC DavisArboretum. Pull out your fiddles, guitars, mandolins, penny whistles, pipes, flutes, squeezeboxes (you name it) and join your fellow musicians for a little bluegrass, old-time, blues, Celtic, klezmer, and world music over the lunch hour. All skill levels welcome. Listeners welcome! The event is free; parking is available for $7 in Visitor Lot 5, at Old Davis Road and Arboretum Drive. Wednesday, June 12
2nd Annual Creative Writing Farewell Reading - 7:00-8:30 pm, UC Davis Arboretum Wyatt Deck, UC Davis campus. The Creative Writing MA program and the Arboretum present the 2nd annual student reading on Wyatt Deck. Graduating writers will read selections from their theses. This is event is free. Visitor lot parking costs $7 per day midweek. Walk with Warren: West End Gardens - 12-1 pm, UC Davis Arboretum Gazebo, UC Davis campus. Join Warren Roberts, the Superintendent Emeritus of the Arboretum and famous storyteller and punster for an always engaging noontime exploration of the UC DavisArboretum’s west end gardens. Free parking is available for one hour along Garrod Drive near the Gazebo.
