Davis Needs a New Laundromat, But Where?

Davis residents are starting to feel a little unraveled by the lack of available laundry cleaning services.

Back in January we reported on the closure of Wash Mill laundromat and asked how it could possibly impact the Davis community.

According to a recent report by KOVR13 news, the impact has apparently been negative, leading some, including city officials, to consider ways of providing additional laundry services to Davis.

The ownder of the sole laundromat in Davis, Laundry Lounge, has taken steps toward doing what she can to help by extending business hours and has gone as far as providing newer equipment as well, according to KOVR.

In the past Davis has had as many as three laundromats operating in the city at the same time, including Wash Mill, Quick Clean Center and Laundry Lounge. Now only one remains.

  • Finding a location will take priority if something is to be done and it stands to reason there are likely vacant store fronts that can provide the accomodations a new laundromat would require. But where?

Let us know where some possibly good locations for a laundromat would be by making your suggestions in the comments section below.

The Davis Food Co-op Plaza and the Westlake Shopping Center. Both areas could use laundromat's and there's a lot of students to fill the need.

The Food Co-op Plaza would be great and maybe another one over at the Westlake Shopping Center.

Suzanne, they can't reopen the old one because the upcoming "Goodwill" had the owners kicked out to make more room for junk.

There are vacancies in the Mace Ranch business park area off 5th Street between Pena and Spafford (where the Goodwill Express is located - ironically enough.) We do need a laundromat on on the east side. But the Davis Food Co-op area is a good location and might be more accessible to those in the old East 8th Street neighborhood.
