Dimple Records is Closing: What Should Replace It?

What type of business do you think downtown Davis needs most?

in Downtown Davis is closing. The owners plan to open a new store in Sacramento that will sell only vinyl records and books.

Everything in the store is currently 30 percent off.

The store's F Street location is quite big and centrally located. As the store makes its exit, what would you like to see it replaced by? What do you think downtown Davis needs most?

I think downtown Davis needs a teen center since the previous one was shut down so they could put a bike museum there instead. It would give bored teens somewhere to go instead of loitering around businesses, plus it helps build a sense of community as they could make new friends and acquaintances.

How will this impact the Elk Grove store?

As far as I know it won't at all. From what I can tell, they're just closing this one store with plans to open another, smaller location in Sacramento. I'll keep an eye out in the coming days for any other news, though.

NOT a Thai restaurant!! It would be great to have an indoor activity place for young kids. How about a cafe/coffeehouse that has an indoor play area like Art Beast or Habitot in Berkeley?

You're not alone in your thoughts on the abundance of Thai restaurants in Davis. Also, cool ideas!

An Apple store. With all the students in town, and our over-educated population, I think that it would do well.

My initial response was that it would be impossible, but as I dwell on it, it makes more and more sense. I wonder how many similarly sized college towns have Apple stores. I'll make a note to look into that.
