Original Story: Get ready, Davis: It’s time for a fine-dining face off.

We put together this list of special-occasion restaurants based largely on your suggestions. Now it's time for you to tell us which you like best and why. The contest closes Friday.

You can vote in a number of ways: Click the restaurant's name below to post a review, leave a comment on this article, or vote in the poll. (All three will factor into the results)

This gourmet throwdown is part of , in which we post a category each week and you pick the winner from among Davis businesses and organizations.

We've defined 'fine dining' broadly here—you won't necessarily find tuxedoed waiters serving multiple courses at these restaurants. But they are all places where you might go to celebrate a graduation or impress a date—where the prices for some dishes may be splurgy but the food says, 'We're worth it.' Chain restaurants were excluded. If you think we've left someone out, write them in!

We'll post the winner on Friday, based on your responses. Don't forget to leave a review in our directory by clicking the restaurant's name below; reviewing their listing page counts extra in the tallying.

Now, without further ado, the nominees:

Mikuni has the best Sushi in the Sacramento area, it also helps that the service is amazing which can rarely be said for the majority of the other nominees!

Mikuni Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar is far and away the best restaurant in Davis. The sushi is amazing and the staff are incredibly friendly and considerate. It's our family's favorite place to go as well as a great date night destination! Not to mention Thursday night late night is great change of pace. 4 Stars!
