Should In-N-Out Add a Veggie Burger? A California Man Has Started a Petition.

An online petition urging In-N-Out to offer vegetarian burger nears 10,000 signatures.

Using the online petition website change.org, a California man is urging the burger chain In-N-Out to tweak its menu offerings to include a vegetarian-friendly option.

The petition followed news that one of the fast food chain's beef suppliers was shut down after being accused of violating animal cruelty laws. As of Wednesday afternoon, it had 9,116 online signatures.

In-N-Out, which has locations in Davis and Vacaville, has maintained the same simple menu for decades: burgers (with or without cheese), fries, shakes and soda.

Should In-N-Out add a veggie burger? Share your thoughts below.

"In-N-Out did the right thing and said they would no longer buy from this supplier, but it's the 21st century and I think it's high time they offer a veggie burger option for customers who don't want to eat animals or just want a little diversity with an environmentally-friendly, healthier option once in a while," the petition reads.

Yeah, they should. I don't think it would dampen their reputation.

In-n-Out ought to make the best veggie berger ever, one that all others strive to become like.... Step it up In-n-Out!

I imagine it might be tricky to add veggie burgers to the mix because they would have to cook them on a separate grill so as not to come into contact with the beef. Might slow down production during peak hours. I'm not a vegetarian, but one of things I like about In 'n Out is the simplicity of the menu. There is technically already a veg option of "grilled cheese".

This guy needs to take that petition and shove it strait... into his own business plan and start his own vegi-burger joint. If the In-n-Out folks thought the vegi-burger was a profitable idea, trust me, they would have been on it already.

Go one step futrther and make it a vegan burger! And it's not hard to put a veggie-only pan in top of the grill to make them. We have one vegan in our family, and it is nice to be able to get take out from only one place instead of making two stops!

They have always had a veggie option. It's (oddly ) called a wish burger. It is the bun and produce and sauce. My son has PKU and has to limit his intake of protein . I've always appreciated that they deduct the price of the meat. Most places don't.

Great idea. Some sweet potato fries while adding ;)

Yes! In-N-Out prides itself on quality fast food. A veggie burger totally fits that mission. With a restaurant just 2 blocks from me, I can't wait for this to happen.

At first I thought, "What now? First the IRS is investigating the Tea Party and now the OddRead More Fellows and Soroptimist?" But then, after reading the article I realize that these are pretty serious allegations if proven to be true. I'm curious what specific "foster youth" organizations have benefitted from all of this fundraising. "Foster youth" is a pretty generic phrase and could refer to any number of organizations. With all of the non-profits I have worked with, the specific charity benefitting from their work was very clearly identified (and their 501c status was never in question).
