Tank House Gets Cut in Half Today

The Tank House will move to Impossible Acres farm Friday.

The Hunt-Boyer Tank House will be Friday to its new home at Impossible Acres farm. But the dirty work has already begun this morning.

The tank house -- which sits on the plot of land next to -- will be cut in half at its center today (like a belt) and partially cut from the foundation upon which it sits.

Boards have already been removed from the sides of the historic structure this morning, so if you take a stroll downtown today, swing by and check on the progress.

The Tank House will move to farm on the outskirts of Davis tomorrow.

Restoration of the structure has been a dream of Katie Kelly, who owns farm with her husband Clyde, both of whom recently purchased the downtown staple for just $11.

"We have already built several traditional structures on Impossible Acres land, but they're only replicas,” Kelly said. “The Tank House comes with its own authentic history and we couldn't be happier.”

Tomorrow, a crane will lift the structure into a truck, at which point a parade will follow it to the farm, which will have a celebration waiting.

Check back with Davis Patch tomorrow. We’ll have full coverage of the relocation, including video of the parade and the removal.
