Two of the Best Veggie Dishes in the Sacramento Region Come From Davis

The Sacramento area's top 25 vegetarian dishes, according to the Sacramento News & Review.

The Sacramento News & Review published a list of the Sacramento area’s top 25 vegetarian dishes, two of which come from Davis.

Their story discusses the rise in high-quality vegan and vegetarian food in recent years. They say restaurant owners use to “just nuke a frostbitten veggie burger or serve up an unappetizing plate of pasta and zucchini to those looking for a meat free option."

Here are the Davis locations on the list. If your favorite vegan/vegetarian dish isn’t on the list, please share it in the comments below.

  • Vegan thali at – “For $11.95, you get samosas, Tibetan momos, chana masala, vegetable curry, rice, puri, and an assortment of chutneys and dipping sauces.”
  • Vegetarian wonton soup at – “The bowl size is troughlike, the soup is the hottest you’ll ever be served, and the wontons don’t fall apart immediately.” $6.50

What are your favorite veggie options in town?

I've had that soup many times. It's delicious, but I must admit: It makes me uncomfortable looking at it considering today's heat.

At first I thought, "What now? First the IRS is investigating the Tea Party and now the OddRead More Fellows and Soroptimist?" But then, after reading the article I realize that these are pretty serious allegations if proven to be true. I'm curious what specific "foster youth" organizations have benefitted from all of this fundraising. "Foster youth" is a pretty generic phrase and could refer to any number of organizations. With all of the non-profits I have worked with, the specific charity benefitting from their work was very clearly identified (and their 501c status was never in question).
