Blog: Craving Some Carne Asada?

If you haven't tried Tres Hermanas, here's why one blogger says you should.

Editors Note: Although this blog may sound like an advertisement for Tres Hermanas, it's not! Chandler just loves herself some Mexcian food! And quite honestly, having read the blog, I'm craving it myself.

Most people have their own favorite Mexican food restaurant. Having lived in Davis long enough now, I have determined that my favorite is .

I went with a friend recently, although I’ve been there a number of times in the past. I just learned that they have Coca Cola fresh out of the bottle – which is referred to as Mexican Coke in the restaurant.  They’ll bring it out in the bottle and all.  There are, in my opinion, few things in life more refreshing than Coke right out of a glass bottle.

I also ordered the carne asada, which comes with rice, beans, and tortillas if you request them. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal; the carne asada was cooked perfectly. My friend ordered an enchilada and she said that it was also delicious. Needless to say, I left with a take-home box to finish the rest of my dinner.

I also sat outside for the first time. I ordinarily sit inside. The booths inside
are comfortable, and it is always cool, which is perfect during warm summer
days.  But the weather was perfect when my friend and I went so we opted to sit outside.

To my pleasant surprise, there are lights strewn across the patio. They light up when the evening falls. The lights were bright enough that you could
easily see, but they were not overtly bright, either. I would suggest that the time to sit outside is during the spring when it is warming up but still cool enough to be bearable.

I always enjoy Tres Hermanas. I typically order their tacos—one of my favorite Mexican dishes—but was glad I changed it up with the carne asada last time.

It seems to be a frequently visited location in Davis, as it should be. It offers up great food and a fun atmosphere. The location in downtown is perfect as well; it’s tucked away in the corner of downtown like a little hidden secret.

In fact, that was how I found it in the first place: by stumbling upon it when I was still getting to know downtown as a newbie. I think of Tres Hermanas every time I get that inevitable craving for Mexican food.
