"Paint Bike Fun" Mural Brings Dozens of Davis Artists out to Contribute

Dozens of artists, of all ages, have contributed strokes to a large mural at the corner of 3rd & F Streets in Downtown Davis.

Downtown Davis is a little more vibrant this weekend, as dozens of local artists put their touches on a community mural at the corner of 3rd and F Streets.

Local muralist, Danielle Fodor, has teamed up with the Davis Art Center, supported by the City of Davis, to bring a joint project called "Paint Bike Fun" to life. More than 150 Davis community members contributed designs they hoped to see incorporated into the mural. Fodor pulled all of the pieces together creating a template that local artists of all ages could help paint.

"So far about 30-50 people have stopped by to add their brush strokes to the wall," says Fodor, "about 8 artists have worked continuously on it with me."

Fodor estimates the mural will take a total of five weeks to complete, just in time for its unveiling at the Davis Bicycle Arts Festival, August 17.

Looking forward, Fodor hopes to acquire funding for the next project she has dreamed up, explaining, "My fantasy is to be able to paint little bike murals on electrical boxes all over Yolo County, placing them at kid height and size so they feel a connection to the art."
