Saving Pets' Lives in Yolo County: Animal Services Embarks on Challenge

The contest is sponsored by Rachael Ray.

In an effort to save more animals' lives than last year, Yolo County Animal Services will be competing in a challenge sponsored by TV personality, Rachael Ray.

They'll be hosting an open house in Woodland (at 140-C Tony Diaz Drive) on Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate the beginning of the ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge. Only fifty shelters throughout the country were chosen to compete.

Yolo County Animal Services shared the following details (along with that adorable kitty-with-ballons image up above):

The Open House will be a great opportunity to meet adoptable animals, tour the shelter, tour the shelter’s new spay/neuter facility, enjoy fun activities and learn about opportunities to volunteer to help the shelter and its animals. Volunteer programs include on-site animal care, socialization and training, fostering shelter animals – especially kittens, helping to promote the shelter in the community, volunteering at off-site adoption events and other opportunities.

Beginning Saturday, June 1, Yolo County Animal Services Shelter will offer substantially reduced adoption fees as part of a promotion to save lives. Adult cats 6 months and older will be adoptable for $5.00. Kittens under 6 months of age will be available for $50.00, and 2 kittens can be adopted for $75.00. Dogs will be adoptable for $50.00, with pit bull breeds and pit bull breed mixes at only $25.00 as part of a special Pit Bull Terrier promotion.

All adoptable fees include spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, vaccinations, deworming, testing for heartworm disease for dogs and feLV or FeLV/FIV testing for cats (Rabies vaccination and licensing fees not included).

Our animal rescue partners, networking groups, and educational partners will be in attendance to answer any question you’ve ever had (even the ones you didn’t know you had).   Hope to see you there – It’ll be a meowvulous time!
