We have another action packed weekend in Davis with a lot to look forward to. Here are a few events taking place in Davis this weekend.
Friday: Clips of Faith
This festival only hits Davis once a year, so be sure to check it out! I know I'll there. The Davis Bike Collective and Davis Bicycles! are bringing New Belgium Brewery to Davis for their "Clips of Faith" beer tasting and film screening tour. New Belgium will be tasting their "Lips of Faith" beer collection as well as their more well-known beers like Fat Tire and 1554.
The films screened will be the winners of their film contest. Come taste some beer and enjoy the entertainment. All proceeds of the event are donated to bicycling groups and community building in the Davis area.
If you go: The festival begins at 7:30 pm in Central Park, films will begin at dark. Tastes are $1 for a 3 oz. beer, the films are free.
Saturday: Davis Farmer's Market, Village Harvest, and Trader Joe's
Whether you visit the farmer's market this Saturday or you join Village Harvest, you will be in the company of the freshest of foods.
At the Davis Farmer's Market you can enjoy a relaxing breakfast brought to you by local farmers and eateries. One of my personal favorites, the popsicles from Fat Face, are perfect for the beautifully hot weather we've been having.
If you are looking for something a bit more physical, Village Harvest will be collecting grapefruit, oranges, and apples this Saturday. Every harvester gets to take a few fresh fruits for themselves, and the rest gets donated to charitable food agencies and organizations.
After a busy morning, head over to at the University Mall. Radio 94.7 will be dropping some beats from 11 - noon with the City of Davis Recycling Program.
If you go: The market is open from 9 am into the afternoon at Central Park. Remember to bring your own bags! And Village Harvest will be at University Mall, south of at 9 am. The expect to finish the harvest around noon.
Sunday: Davis Bike Club Ride
Join the Davis Bike Club for a casual ride to Winters on Sunday morning. The group bikes to Winters via Country Road 29 to grab a cup of coffee at Steady Eddy's before heading back to Davis. The ride is 35 miles and is listed for moderate (12 to 16 mph) bikers. The route includes a loop around the beautiful Lake Solano, so head out enjoy the fresh air, sunshine, and some socialble excercise.
If you go: The group meets outside the Starbucs Lyndell Terrace at 9 am. If you have any questions you can contact the ride leader, Alan Hill, at 530-729-8900.
