A Christmas Carol at DMTC

The musical, from Oscar and Tony winning composer, Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors) and Tony winning lyricist, Lynn Ahrens (Seussical, Ragtime) seamlessly blends unforgettable songs with the familiar tale.  “It’s a musical that played every holiday at Madison Square Garden’s theater from 1994 until 2003, but it hasn’t been seen much since that time,” says John Ewing, President of Davis Musical Theatre Co.  At the time the New York Times called it, “Spirited entertainment!”  The rediscovered musical will delight families with an unparalleledholiday experience.

A Christmas Carol has been adapted over the years into everything from full length movies, animated cartoons, TV specials, plays and now as a Broadway musical.  Alan Menken’s AChristmas Carol opened in 1994 as a holiday show for the whole family during a time that Beauty And The Beast dominated the box office on Broadway. Producers approached Menken, teaming him with Ahrens to give the Dickens story a full Great White Way makeover.
