Urinetown: The Musical at DMTC

Urinetown is a satirical comedy musical that pokes fun at the everything, from government bureaucracy and the legal system to corporate America’s mismanagement and social irresponsibility. The show even parodies the Broadway musical itself.  With music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann, and book by Greg Kotis, Urinetown, boasts itself as the show with a terrible title, but a great show that brings a surprise ending to this unorthodox and thought provoking musical.

It tells the story of Bobby Strong, an assistant custodian at the local municipal restroom.  A 20 year drought has taken its toll creating an incredible water shortage that has outlawed private restrooms. The bathroom facilities are now a pay as you go proposition with public toilets controlled by a conglomerate called Urine Good Company. The laws are harsh with offenders that can’t pay for the “privilege to pee” being sent to "Urinetown", never to return.
