Every year when the Kentucky Derby rolls around -- it’s this Saturday -- I kick my feet up and read Hunter S. Thompson's take on the famous horse race.
"The Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved" is one of my favorite pieces of journalism, ever. It's funny, yet insane, yet informative. You can almost taste the mint juleps. (I’ve never tried one, but that may change this year).
Anyway, I've included Thompson's story in this blog post in case you'd like to give it a whirl.
As for the rest of my day: I’m watching a Liverpool soccer match at at 9 a.m., and then the Derby at 2 p.m., and then the Vanguard’s at 6 p.m.
In the spirit of Hunter Thompson, I'm considering just submerging into the day and just letting it take me where it will. If the resulting journalism is less than traditional, you’ll know why. Just go with it.
Oh yeah, there's also a Cinco de Mayo event going on in the Capay Valley Saturday night, which sounds like a fine opportunity to kick back and .
What are you doing with your weekend.
