Upper Crust founders Mo and Trudy Kalisky came to Davis, California from New York City in 1970. It didn’t take long for a big city couple in a rural college town on the West Coast to realize that there wasn’t a decent loaf of bread to be found. It was then that Mo started baking French-style baguettes at home.
For years the young couple would bring the baguettes and other homemade delicacies along to dinner parties and barbeques, always receiving accolades for their tastiness and authenticity. It wasn’t until 1986 that the Kaliskys decided to go public with the bread and ever since they have been delighting their die-hard fanbase with everything from breads and cookies to tarts and pies.
But perhaps no other product has as loyal a following as the oatmeal cookies. There is something about them that keeps people coming back for more.
