We're 1!

Happy birthday to us! Patch celebrates its one-year anniversary in Moon. Take a look back at our favorite stories.

Well, that went fast.

Today marks 365 days-worth of Patch.com in Moon Township. That's right, it's our one-year Patch-iversary. And here's to many more years to come.

So to mark the occasion, I combed through Moon Patch's 1,773 articles (That's an average of 4.74 articles each day. We've been counting.) and picked my top 12 favorites. View the gallery above for more on that.

I'd like to thank each of you for logging into the site and helping us grow so quickly in just one year. We look forward to continuing to be your first source of news in Moon.

Our birthday in Moon is probably a good opportunity to re-introduce you to Patch and our work in towns across the country. At its heart, Patch is a resource for communities, and we're here to help better connect you to the place you call home.

So here are some answers to questions I'm often asked about the site.

What is 'The Patch,' anyway?

Technically, we're just "Patch." No "the." But call us whatever you want so long as you don't call us late for dinner.

We're a community-specific online information platform for news, announcements, community events, local deals and business listings. Think of us as your community's water cooler. Stop by and learn the scoop on what's going on around town.

We update throughout the day and strive to be first with news that matters most in Moon. We also try to provide a mix of stories, photos and videos.

While you're at it, check out the other Patch sites covering news in the Pittsburgh region or the more than 860 sites throughout the country. My colleagues do pretty impressive work.

How can I use Patch?

Great question (Assuming you've asked it).

News is no longer a one-way conversation, and there are tons of things you can do on this site besides checking out headlines.

Readers can leave a comment on an article. (But please folks, use manners and be polite.) Or post an event or announcement. You can upload photos from around town or take part in a Patch Poll. We want to see Moon Township from your perspective.

If you'd like to graduate from commenting to the blog-writing big leagues, please contact me at . We'd love to hear your voice on the site. Learn more about blogging on Patch

You can get up-to-the-minute gas prices and traffic information under our brand-new Traffic tab or view our online classfieds

Oh, but that's not all, Moon Township! We feature one of the most comprehensive business directories around, and we recently rolled out a new Patch Deals feature. Business owners also may consult that directory to "claim their listing."

See, we're the veritable Swiss army knife of news websites.

Please contact me if you'd like to learn more about how you can use Patch to benefit your group or community organization.

How do I get my news tip or event on Patch?

Maybe you spotted something around town that you'd like us to look into. Or maybe your church is hosting a great event this weekend that you think deserves coverage on our site. Or maybe you'd like to yell at me about a story I wrote.

I'm at your service! My Email is Jenna.Staul@patch.com, and my phone number is 412-290-2024.

Are you on social media sites?

Boy are we! Follow us on Twitter here or like us on Facebook here.

Jenna, do you live in Moon Township?

Why yes, neighbor. Moved here last November, actually.

Are you a newspaper? Where can I get Moon Patch in print?

Print? It's (almost) 2012.

Patch is solely an online publication. Again, you can check out a full list of Patch sites by clicking here. You can also sign up for our email newsletter by going to our front page and clicking Patch Newsletter

Great job this year, Jenna. And I love your answer to the "Does it come in print?" question. I get that all the time.
