We've been robbed!

There is no other way to say this. Davis peeps wake up!

What you see in the picture is part of a handmade reconstructed door jamb one of our local Davis carpenters installed during part of our renovation and repairs to the Historic French Residence out at Fresh SPIN Farms.

By now you may know we've been trying to catch up from what we are finding was incredibly poor actions and activities of a caretaker after our resident farmer required personal time this last summer. We have a local working mother and her two daughters living in the house doing what they can to clean up and repair the place after what we are learning was a string of pot parties, beer fests, and "friends and acquaintances" of the caretaker helping themselves to tools, parts of the furnishings, hanging up the antique glass lampshades in the willow trees, and eventually hosting an illegal bonfire our neighbors had to report to the Westplainfield Fire Department.

Now this! One of the girls came home yesterday afternoon to find the front door to the house kicked in. Parts of the house were searched and things were taken, including her sister's Cello! The burglars also were starting to target the shop when they must have been scarred off.

We have appealed for support through Gofundme.com to accelerate getting the farm back into shape already, but now we are being targeted.  About a week ago, one of the girls saw a black or dark pickup at the property with two males who backed down to our shop. They left when they noticed they were being watched. We don't know if this is the same vehicle that was involved in the robbery yesterday, but we are next door to the Russell Ranch Horse Boarding facility and are constantly listening to bicyclists on the bike lane talking about the house, why "nobody" does anything with it, what condition it is in, etc. As well, traffic on Russell Blvd. tends to pick up around the time the front door was being kicked in and the burglars were moving their vehicle and walking around the property.

We suspect the robbers were there for as long as a half an hour. This happened in your back yard! Somebody in Davis, driving to or from Winters, out for a jog, walking their dog, riding on the bike lane, or coming out to work with their horse probably saw or heard something. Please help!

By permission, we've been selling down some of the owner's tool collection, old equipment and parts, along with some of his personal items while he is out of the country on a Fulbright Fellowship to try and make it until we can generate income from new plantings, but when we are under attack, not only do we loose valuable time and property, but it doesn't help the feeling of security and community we are needing to reconstruct!

The majority of property taxes Fresh SPIN Farms pays goes directly to fund the Davis Branch of the Yolo County Library, the Davis Joint Unified School System, and even the fund to create and manage the desired "Green Zone" buffer around Davis. We are doing our part but need your help. If you saw anything, please let us know. It doesn't matter if you report someone who was suppose to be there. Just report. Those of us who belonged on the property need you, the community, to be involved. Thank you for any support you can provide.
