A Davis Patch Photographer Was Held Up at Gunpoint Saturday Night

"The victim refused to give up his property and the suspect fled the area on foot."

After a night of photographing the Davis Music Festival, a Davis Patch photographer was held up at gunpoint during his walk home Saturday night.

I plan to post his account of the story tomorow (Wednesday). Here's the info Davis Police Lt. Paul Doroshov provided me today:

On June 24, at approximately 12:15 AM, Davis Police officers were dispatched to the area of 6th Street and D Street for a report of a robbery. The 30 year old male victim was walking on D Street and talking on his cell phone. A suspect approached the victim, pointed a handgun at him, and demanded the victim's cell phone. The victim refused to give up his property and the suspect fled the area on foot.

Police officers arrived and checked the area, but could not locate the suspect. The victim described the suspect as a black male adult, in his mid-twenties, wearing and unknown type of hat, and a white colored jersey. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call the Davis Police Department at (530)747-5400.

Note: The photographer acknowledges that the advisable thing to do would have been to hand over the property. But he said he had a few reasons for not doing so. I'll get it posted Wednesday, when it's finished.
