Daniel Marsh's Lawyer Wants the Public and Media Banned from His Murder Trial

Daniel William Marsh, 16, faces charges of murdering Oliver Jennings Northup, Jr., and Claudia Maureen Maupin.

Attorneys for the 16-year-old Davis boy accused of stabbing an elderly couple to death in April want to keep his trial out of the public eye.

According to the Yolo County District Attorney's website, 16-year-old Daniel William Marsh's attorney "has filed a Motion to Exclude the Public, To Exclude Electronic Media Coverage, To Issue a Protective Order, & To Seal the Preliminary Examination."

Marsh was 15 in April when authorities say he lay in wait and then killed 87-year-old Oliver Jennings Northup, Jr., and 76-year-old Claudia Maureen Maupin by stabbing them repeatedly.

A hearing on the motion from Marsh's attorney is scheduled for Aug. 29, and his preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 13.
