Patch learned on Friday that the Davis Islamic Center on Russell Boulevard was burglarized in the middle of the night this week, with an undisclosed amount of money being stolen from donation boxes.
This comes on the heels of a recent spike in residential burglaries in town.
The man entered the mosque through an unlocked window around 1:50 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the Davis Police Department.
"He proceeded to take an undisclosed amount of money which was located in donation boxes," according to a release from Lt. Glenn Glasgow. "At one point, the suspect is seen leaving the mosque and then parking a white vehicle on the west side of the church on South Campus Way. The suspect re-entered the mosque and eventually exited and left in the white vehicle."

The suspect is described as a White or Hispanic male, approximately 5’10” tall, average build, possibly weighing between 160 and 175 pounds. The suspect was last seen wearing a dark colored baseball hat with sunglasses on top, a light colored ¼ zip sweatshirt, blue jeans, white athletic shoes with black laces, and a black backpack.
The vehicle is described as a white four door sedan unknown make or model.
