A woman was bitten by a dog while riding her bike at the east end of Orchard Park on the UC Davis campus. The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office wants the public to help locate the dog involved.
The bite happened on Wednesday, June 27, at about 8:45 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office.
They shared details in the following release:
An adult female and her male companion were walking three dogs on leashes when the female victim was riding her bicycle with her son. One of the three dogs lunged at the victim and bit her through her clothing causing moderate injury. The dog owner stopped and asked if the victim was ok, but the victim did not realize until later the extent of her injuries under her clothing and did not obtain any personal information from the dog owners at the time. Later attempts to locate the dogs and owners by the victim and UC Davis Police were unsuccessful.
The biting dog is described as a large dark brown Boxer / Pit Bull mixed breed and the two other dogs were small white dogs. The owners/handlers were described as a male, 30-40 years of age, medium build with black short hair and a small black mustache, with darkly tanned skin wearing dirty tattered blue jeans and a tattered over shirt of multiple colors. The female had long, light blonde hair, appeared to be in excess of 40 years of age, with dirty tattered clothing.
Anyone having knowledge about this bite incident or the location of the owner or dogs is encouraged to report it to Animal Services or the UC Davis Police Department. Identifying the dog to verify current rabies vaccination will help possibly prevent the victim from post exposure rabies treatment.
The Yolo County Sheriff's Office Animal Services Section wants to take this opportunity to remind the public that California Health and Safety Code 121705 states anyone having knowledge of the location or ownership a biting dog and conceals that information is guilty of a misdemeanor.
