Garzon Pleads No Contest to Hate-Crime Assault

Clayton Garzon will be sentenced to 5 years in prison for the beating of Mikey Partida.

The Davis man who was set to go to trial for the March 10 beating of 32-year-old Mikey Partida pleaded no contest to felony battery with serious bodily injury and a hate crime enhancement Tuesday within a Yolo County courtroom.

Clayton Garzon was set to go to trial on Sept. 23, but was instead offered a plea agreement that would require a sentence of 5 years in prison.

Garzon was accused of beating Partida outside a house party the two men attended. Prosecutors allege that Garzon used homosexual slurs before the beating, which warranted the hate crime enhancement.

Garzon was taken into custody on March 14.
