The Davis Police Department announced Thursday that they arrested Clayton Garzon, 19, in the beating of Mikey Partida, 32.

Witnesses say the suspect repeatedly yelled gay slurs at Partida before the attack, which police are investigating as a hate crime. Partida was found unconscious at the scene and hospitalized with head trauma. More info and video of Partida here.

Here's what we know about the 19-year-old suspect:

  • He is a Davis resident who appears to have attended Davis High School.
  • He was arrested for a stabbing in Dixon last September. In that incident, four victims were stabbed and another "suffered blunt force trauma to the head."
  • His father is a doctor who travels to Africa to treat famine victims. As it turns out, I interviewed him in August of 2011.
  • We also found Garzon's MySpace page, which has dozens of photos. In many of them he's smoking from a bong and drinking. In others he is riding a bike, smoking a cigarette, or just posing with friends. Visit the page here.
