Meet Clayton Garzon, the 19-Year-Old Arrested in the Beating of Mikey Partida

Police are investigating the incident as a hate crime. Garzon allegedly yelled gay slurs repeatedly before the attack.

The Davis Police Department announced Thursday that they arrested Clayton Garzon, 19, in the beating of Mikey Partida, 32.

Witnesses say the suspect repeatedly yelled gay slurs at Partida before the attack, which police are investigating as a hate crime. Partida was found unconscious at the scene and hospitalized with head trauma. More info and video of Partida here.

Here's what we know about the 19-year-old suspect:

  • He is a Davis resident who appears to have attended Davis High School.
  • He was arrested for a stabbing in Dixon last September. In that incident, four victims were stabbed and another "suffered blunt force trauma to the head."
  • His father is a doctor who travels to Africa to treat famine victims. As it turns out, I interviewed him in August of 2011.
  • We also found Garzon's MySpace page, which has dozens of photos. In many of them he's smoking from a bong and drinking. In others he is riding a bike, smoking a cigarette, or just posing with friends. Visit the page here.

Feel free to share thoughts below. You can also visit Mikey's Justice Fund on Facebook to follow Partida's progress.

Wow! Lots of judgments here. Assuming his parents are bad parents? Common now. That has nothing to do with it. He is an adult and made some bad choices. Yes, substance abuse is part of the problem here. It messes up really good people's brain especially when you are young and your brain is still growing. His frontal lobe is where judgment sits. Alcohol on board, substances on board and you are not going to be in any position to make good decisions. He is a nice person but when high he is the devil. He won't get prison. Perhaps jail (18 months max) and probation. Sad but true. Money talks.

My son thought that he liked Clay too, until he and his other disturbed friends decided to brutally stab him and 5 other people putting them all in the hospital with life threatening stab wounds and bragged about it later. They actually were bragging about having thier knives and showing them off saying they were looking to get into a fight that night. He definately gets off on putting people in the hospital and he is lucky none of his victims have died or he would be facing murder charges. Clayton's father should have never bailed him out of jail. Mikey would not be in the hospital right now. I can only pray that the justice system does right by all of his victims.

This kid is a spoiled brat with a sense of entitlement that allows him to feel that he can do whatever the hell he wants w/out consequenses. As long as mommy and daddy continue to bail him out, his deviant behavior will continue to escalate. Self defense? Oh yeah, that's what he claimed when he stabbed 5 unarmed people, some nearly to death. This kid is an animal and a manace to society, and certainly has no place in a wonderful community like Davis. I hope that his entire family is driven out of town, especially if his parents continue to enable him. We don't want him here, plain and simple.

If a kid from a wealthy family beats someone up, he's a spoiled brat. what if a kid from a poor family beats someone up? I'm not sure what good the name calling does.
