Police: 12-Year-Old Davis Boy Thwarts Burglary

When the man forced entry into the home, the boy hid in the bathroom and called 911.

A 12-year-old boy helped thwart a burglary at his home Monday morning. He was home alone when a stranger appeared at the front door of his house on the 200 block of Caravaggio Drive at about 8:45 a.m.

When the boy didn't answer, the stranger went around to the back door and tried to force entry. That's when the boy, hiding in the bathroom, called 911. According to a police statement:   

The victim stayed on the phone providing valuable information to the dispatcher as officers rushed to the scene with their emergency lights and sirens.

The suspect fled prior to police arrival, and the victim was unharmed. At the scene, officers found evidence suggesting the suspect also tried to make entry through a window in the backyard. The suspect is described as a male, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt who is approximately 30 years old. Davis Police Officers continue to investigate this incident.
