Police: Six Reports of Gasoline Theft in Davis This Month

Police have not noticed any patters. Do you have information?

The Davis Police Department released the following note on Facebook Friday afternoon:

"Over the last two weeks, we have received 6 reports of gasoline theft. The latest two were reported between May 14th and May 15th. 12 gallons were siphoned from a vehicle on San Thomas and an unknown amount of gasoline was taken from a van on County Road 32A. So far we have not noticed any patterns in locations or vehicles targeted."

Do you know anything about these incidents in Davis? Is it possible you've been targeted?

This was very common 30+ years ago. I never used to keep my tank more than 1/4 full when I lived in Downtown Sac. Anything more than that would be gone before morning. That was before locking gas caps though.

Yeah, I agree. My wife bought a Toyota hatchback two years ago and it doesn't have a locking cap. Seems so weird to me. I thought it was pretty much standard at this point.
