Robbery in East Davis Park Leads to Arrest of Suspect Who Was Busted During Drug Raid Last Week

Police identified the suspect as Cangleska Standingelk, who had been arrested while fleeing a drug raid at a house on B Street just last week.

Police received a call about a "strong armed robbery" at Oak Grove Park near Donner Avenue in Davis Tuesday afternoon. Three hours later, police arrested a suspect who just last week was busted when police raided a drug house.

"The suspect approached the victim and demanded property," said Davis Police in a release. "During the confrontation, the suspect physically took a bicycle from the victim and left the area."

Police later identified the suspect as Cangleska Standingelk, 35, of Davis. Three hours after the robbery, he was located at Chestnut Park and arrested.

Standingelk was arrested during a drug raid at a home on B Street just last week, on Feb. 21.

The home was being used to sell drugs, according to police. When they arrived, they arrested three people. Two others fled the scene in a vehicle, nearly hitting an officer in the process.

One of those men was Standingelk, who has no permanent address, according to police.

As for this week's bicycle robbery:

"Standingelk was lodged at the jail on one count of robbery," police said. "The bicycle has not yet been recovered."

This person is one of the 5 who were arrested (and seemingly released) after last week's DPD raid of the suspected drug house on B Street.

Sounds like Davis PD and the Yolo County DA need to reevaluate who they release after an arrest.

Word on the street is that he gave the victim a wet willy before demanding the bicycle. Horrendous. Let him rot in prison for life.

What's a wet willy? Used to know the term but forgot it.

Changa Standing Elk was a thug and a bully throughout junior high too. I too am not surprised. Seems like there is a lot of crime in Davis as of late.

At first I thought, "What now? First the IRS is investigating the Tea Party and now the OddRead More Fellows and Soroptimist?" But then, after reading the article I realize that these are pretty serious allegations if proven to be true. I'm curious what specific "foster youth" organizations have benefitted from all of this fundraising. "Foster youth" is a pretty generic phrase and could refer to any number of organizations. With all of the non-profits I have worked with, the specific charity benefitting from their work was very clearly identified (and their 501c status was never in question).
