Police in Davis advised the public Thursday evening about explosions that could be heard during a two-hour period by residents.
UC Davis Police and the Yolo County Bomb Sqaud will be detonating materials between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m, just south of Davis, Davis Police Lt. Glenn Glasgow reported.
It was unclear what sorts of materials were being detonated but Davis police wanted to reassure residents of their safety.
This is the second detonation alert in seven days.
On Jan. 17, UC Davis Police evacuated a building in an on-campus housing complex at 418 Russell Park after discovering chemicals in an apartment.
The hazardous materials were later detonated safely.
