During arrests, police discover firearms, ammunition and an illegal gun magazine.

Davis police and narcotics investigators Tuesday arrested a 19-year-old man -- suspected of being tied to a string of suspected Davis burglaries -- along with his mother on narcotics and weapons charges, according to police officials.

Vincente Herrera, 19,  has been tied to a possible string of Davis burglaries, said Lt. Glenn Glasgow of the Davis Police department.

“At this point in time, we have linked (the male suspect) to a burglary in the area and we are trying to determine the extent of their involvement in others,” said Glasgow.

Herrera was arrested at about 3 p.m. yesterday along with his mother Jessie Herrera, 35, at their residence on the 2500 block of E. 8th St., according to Glasgow.

Police made the arrests while conducting a search warrant related to the suspected burglaries.

Police arrested Vincente Herrera on suspicion of  possessing both high capacity firearms and ammunition. Jessie Herrera was also arrested on suspicion of possession of high capacity ammunition.

In addition, Vincent Herrera was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sales, felony child endangerment, being a felon and/or addict in possession of a firearm and conspiracy.

Jessie Herrera was also arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sales, felony child endangerment, being a felon and/or addict in possession of a firearm, destruction of evidence and conspiracy.

Glasgow said the area and extent of the burglaries are still being investigated.

“We are attempting to narrow down the geographical area where the property was taken,” he said. “We are still sifting through the property and recovered over a dozen items that were stolen or believed to be stolen."

The Herrera’s were booked at Yolo County’s jail.
