Two Drug Arrests Within as Many Miles and Minutes

Arizona man is arrested on drugs and weapons charges, while an Elk Grove woman is arrested for trying to get pain killers with a forged prescription.

The Davis Police made two separate drug-related arrests Wednesday afternoon that were less than two miles apart, and at nearly the same time.

The first came when a 41-year-old man from Mesa, Ariz., was arrested on suspicion of drugs and weapons possession. An officer on patrol spotted "a suspicious vehicle" on the 1900 block of F Street and contacted the driver, Eduardo Collette, who was found to be in possession of an illegal weapon – a billy club – the Davis Police Department reported in a news release. The drugs – methamphetamine – were discovered "upon further investigation."

Collette was arrested and taken to the Monroe Detention Center.

The second arrest, at about the same time as the above incident, occurred at the CVS Pharmacy on W. Covell Boulevard, and resulted in a 49-year-old Elk Grove woman being arrested. Maria Pumar, 49, allegedly tried to obtain prescription pain killers with a forged prescription, according to the Davis Police, and was arrested on suspicion of fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance, burglary and forgery.
