CHP officers told Davis Patch that the victims had been traveling east on I-80 near the Richards Blvd exit Friday morning when their Budget rental truck hit a car in another lane, causing the truck to overcorrect and swerve off the road.

The accident demolished the truck's cab and slowed traffic on the highway through the early afternoon.
