Yolo Man Found on Side of Country Road with Stab Wounds on Body & Head

Mark Cullen was able to answer his cell phone and told the co-worker he was dying and that he was on County Line Road. Police are investigating.

Yolo County Sheriff’s deputies received a call about a man who had been severely stabbed in rural Yolo County early Monday morning.

Here's their account of the incident that followed:

After 49 year old Mark Cullen of Arbuckle did not show up for his scheduled midnight shift at Adams Vegetable Oils Inc., in Colusa County, a co-worker called Cullen’s cell phone. Cullen was able to answer his cell phone and told the co-worker he was dying and that he was on County Line Road (near Dunnigan). The co-worker drove Cullen’s usual route to work and located Cullen lying on the side of County Line Road. Cullen had stabs wounds to his upper body and head. Cullen’s vehicle was missing from the scene. Yolo County Sheriff deputies located Cullen’s vehicle on County Rd. 99W, south of County Line Road.

Cullen was airlifted to an area hospital where he is listed as being in critical condition.

Sheriff’s detectives are currently investigating this attempted homicide. Anyone with any information about this case is encouraged to contact the Yolo County Sheriff’s Investigations Unit at 530-668-5212.

We'll update when we have more details.

At first I thought, "What now? First the IRS is investigating the Tea Party and now the OddRead More Fellows and Soroptimist?" But then, after reading the article I realize that these are pretty serious allegations if proven to be true. I'm curious what specific "foster youth" organizations have benefitted from all of this fundraising. "Foster youth" is a pretty generic phrase and could refer to any number of organizations. With all of the non-profits I have worked with, the specific charity benefitting from their work was very clearly identified (and their 501c status was never in question).
