Yolo Sheriff’s Office Seeks Biting Cat

The cat bit the 49-year-old man near M Street and Duke Drive.

A large, brown Siamese-mix cat bit a 49-year-old man on Sunday. Yolo Animals Services is attempting to locate the cat in hopes of preventing further treatment for the victim.

The cat, which is black, with white highlights bit the man near M Street and Duke Drive. The cat was wearing an unknown type collar with an oval tag, according to the Sheriff’s Office. They sent out the following release Wednesday:

The Animal Services Section wants to ensure the public understands information regarding this incident is important for rabies prevention because Rabies is a deadly disease. Finding the offending animal may prevent post exposure rabies treatment for the victim. Also, as part of the Rabies Prevention Program it is important to ensure your pet's license and rabies vaccine is current.

We would like to remind the public to use caution when petting or approaching any animal with which they are not familiar. Animals who seem calm and adorable may only be exercising their protective instincts when they lash out.
