STORY: All City of Davis fields and parks are closed as of Wednesday, Dec. 5, due to wet field conditions, except Playfields Synthetic Soccer field, according to the City of Davis.

The rain is expected to pass on Thursday and remain clear this weekend, but there is still a chance of showers.

why would the city close wet fields? do they deem them unsafe or...?

Randall-the fields are safe but the turf will be ruined if they have continued use when they are wet.
Also the city posted permanent signs in all the parks that have sports fields in them. They are attached to poles near an entrance. Most fields are not going to have a sign in the middle of the field anymore.

At first I thought, "What now? First the IRS is investigating the Tea Party and now the OddRead More Fellows and Soroptimist?" But then, after reading the article I realize that these are pretty serious allegations if proven to be true. I'm curious what specific "foster youth" organizations have benefitted from all of this fundraising. "Foster youth" is a pretty generic phrase and could refer to any number of organizations. With all of the non-profits I have worked with, the specific charity benefitting from their work was very clearly identified (and their 501c status was never in question).
