Council Misrepresents New City Manager's Contract

The council erroneously compared to the past city manager's salary, according to a Rich Rifkin column that was analyzed in the Davis Vanguard.

It appears that when the city council announced the hiring of Steve Pinkerton, they misrepresented the new city manager’s salary when they compared it to that of his predecessor, Bill Emlen.

The error was originally reported in a column by Rich Rifkin, and analyzed this morning in the Davis Vanguard.

The council originally announced that Pinkerton would make $3,500 more than Emlen made in his last full year. He’ll actually make $44,000 more, making his total compensation $281,877.
