DOMA Struck Down: Davis Reacts

Same-sex marriage ban is ruled unconstitutional. What's your reaction?

Reactions flooded social media as Californians responded to news that the U.S. Supreme Court struck down DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act, in a 5-4 vote in a decision Wednesday morning.

The act had prohibited the U.S. government from recognizing same-sex marriage.

When we asked Davis Patch Facebook followers if the court got it right, we heard a mix of reactions.

"Yes they did. But they could have flat out ruled that any ban on marriage is unconstitutional. ... Marriage is not a religious institution, matrimony is, but marriage is a binding contract and should be treated as such," one person wrote.

Another wrote: "As far as it goes, yes they were right. But remember still only 12 states as of this moment are affected."

See how Davis reacted on Twitter above.
