SF Chronicle: Davis Farmers Market a Trailblazer for Others in the State

The Chronicle featured a story about the importance of the Davis Farmers Market.

 

The San Francisco Chronicle ran a story Tuesday that rained a fair amount of praise on the our local farmers market. 

"The college town's proximity to the state capital is one of the reasons its market has been one of the most influential in California," the article begins, and then tells the Davis Farmers Market's history.

When a small band of UC students and soon-to-be farmers founded the Davis Farmers' Market in 1976, San Francisco's Alemany market was one of the only other farmers' markets in the state. The group of young agriculture activists wanted a better connection to the farms that surrounded Davis.
