During the recess of a long budget-related council meeting this summer, Councilmember Stephen Souza approached the media table (where I was sitting) and offered a platter of tropical fruit that was left from an earlier closed session.
It took him up on the offer, and then he strolled away decked out in one of his many Hawaiian shirts. It was an extremely tropical situation.
It wasn't until he announced his on November 2 that I realized the depth of his collection. I was scanning through old council meeting photos, noticed the Hawaiian trend and decided to collect them in a photo gallery.
