Video: PASEA President Matt Muller’s City Council Speech

The cuts will drive "already low employe morale even lower," Muller said.

One of the more rousing speeches at the June 21 City Council meeting came from Matt Muller, the president of the Program, Administrative and Support Employees Association (PASEA).

That meeting was filled with city workers who lined up to speak in defense of their jobs and their salaries as the council contemplated a motion to seek $2.5 million in personnel savings by this fall. (They approved it the following week).

Muller, who drew thunderous applause from those who attended the meeting, has drawn criticism in other circles, namely the Vanguard. The local blog has made its support of the personnel savings clear, saying that “we can achieve the $2.5 million in cuts with as little disruption to the rank and file employees as possible.”

Muller said the cuts will drive "already low employe morale even lower."

Watch the video above to see Muller’s full speech, (Minus the first sentence in which he introduces himself, because I couldn't get my camera turned on in time).

At first I thought, "What now? First the IRS is investigating the Tea Party and now the OddRead More Fellows and Soroptimist?" But then, after reading the article I realize that these are pretty serious allegations if proven to be true. I'm curious what specific "foster youth" organizations have benefitted from all of this fundraising. "Foster youth" is a pretty generic phrase and could refer to any number of organizations. With all of the non-profits I have worked with, the specific charity benefitting from their work was very clearly identified (and their 501c status was never in question).
