Katehi Starts Blogging Again After Months of Silence

You won't find any mention of pepper spray on the blog, at least so far. What do you think of it?

Did you know that Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi keeps a blog?

It existed before the pepper spray events on Nov. 18 and it still exists today, although it remained silent for a few turbulent months.

The blog is called Common Sense. She has written several posts in the past few weeks. Some about the UC’s financial situation, the farmers market, César Chávez and more. There have been five entries since March 24, but there were zero during the five months prior to that date.

Katehi’s last blog post before that was on Oct. 26, which was about three weeks before the Nov. 18 pepper spraying. That blog post discussed UC Davis’s Civility Project, in which she says “we are a campus known for its civility and our commitment to respect, equality and freedom of expression runs deep.”

Here’s how the Chancellor describes her blog, which you can read here:

"This blog will provide an opportunity for all of us to share our thoughts, ideas and news about how our university is making an impact around the world and how we are fulfilling our Vision of Excellence. I welcome your comments and encourage you to please embrace the UC Davis Principles of Community, and please abide by our Comments Policy when posting on this or any other UC Davis site."

Did you already know about Katehi's blog? Check it out and let us know what you think? Will you be a regular reader?

She has actually blogged pretty regularly since her return. I think blogging is a great avenue for public figures. It'll be interesting to watch Katehi's contributions in the wake of the report's release.
